Bulls Double up on Galahs
Bogan Bulls won both grades against Gulargambpne at Larkin Oval, Nyngan on Saturday, August 1.

The Bogan Bulls finished the general rounds of the Western Plains Rugby competition on a high, winning both the men’s and women’s games at home against Gulargambone.
Despite losing the least number of games for the season (one) the Bulls were not minor premiers due to the Walgett rams having scored a greater number of game points during the season.
This means the Bulls have lost the opportunity to host a home semi-final, and will now travel to Walgett for the major semi-final in a fortnight, with the winner to progress straight to the grand final and the loser to play either Coonamble or Warren for a second chance.
The Bulls were solid against Gulargambone on Saturday, winning 40-10 with winger Derrick Voku scoring a hat trick of tries, Tyrone Chrystal getting a double and Cyril Seiba scoring one.
Nick Sims was solid with the boot, converting all but one.
For Gular, Darcy Neeves scored a try and Jake Peart converted.
Bulls captain for the day, Brendan Nelson congratulated Gular on the improvement being made by the young players throughout the season and said they would become a real force in future seasons.
The Bulls players point went to Aaron Duncan (three); Jack McLaughlin and Sam Wilkins (two) and Tyrone Chrystal (one). Player’s player was Brett Dapto Taylor.
Meanwhile the real highlight of the day was the Bogan Bullettes 20-17 defeat of the highly- regarded Flamin’ Galahs in the tri tag game.
The Bullettes had previously lost 60-0 and 40-5 to Gular this season - so the win was a reason to celebrate - and will give the girls a chance to play in the finals.
The game was played under lights and was an exciting fixture, especially when Gular chased down the Bullettes’ strong early lead.
Unfortunately the win didn’t come without a cost, with leading play maker Sophie Doughty injuring her ankle in the first half.
The girls’ game points went to Lily Burton (three); Juliette Denny (two) and Courtney Cochrane (one).
The Bullettes will now travel to Coonamble on Saturday, August 8, to play Walgett in the minor semi-final.
